Jobs for teens
If you are 13 or older, you can earn on your own street. Put up a flyer for what you are good at, set your price and your hours, and neighbours send you requests.
How to make money as a teenager here
The simplest way is to do something people on your street already need. On Flyer you put up a flyer describing what you do, choose your price and the hours you are free, and neighbours who need it send you a request for a specific day and time. You accept the ones that suit you, and turning one down is fine.
Common flyers are lawn mowing, snow shovelling, leaf raking, dog walking, babysitting, car washing, window cleaning and tutoring.
Jobs for 13 year olds
13 is the minimum age to earn on Flyer. Good places to start are the jobs close to home, like dog walking, raking leaves or washing cars. You have to finish by 9 pm, and a parent or guardian's name, phone number and email are needed when you sign up.
Jobs for 14 and 15 year olds
The jobs on Flyer are the same at every age from 13 up, so a 15 or 16 year old can offer anything a 13 year old can, and build experience and reviews that make the flyer stand out. Every job has to finish by 9 pm.
Jobs for 16 and 17 year olds
Jobs run until 9 pm, which leaves room for evening babysitting and tutoring. Until you turn 18 your earnings are still paid into an account owned by a parent or guardian, because Stripe requires an account holder to be 18 or over.
How you get paid
The customer adds a card before they can send you a request. It is charged when you accept, and Flyer holds the money until the customer approves the finished job, when you receive your full listed price, and Flyer's service fee is paid by the customer on top. Tips go 100% to you.
Payouts go through Stripe. If you are under 18, the payout account belongs to a parent or guardian, who has to confirm their email with Flyer before payouts can be set up.
Getting started
- Create an account. Sign up with your email and confirm it.
- Add your details. Your date of birth, and if you are under 18, a parent or guardian’s name, phone number and email.
- Put up a flyer. Say what you do, set your price and choose your hours.
- Accept what suits you. Requests come from neighbours for a specific day and time. Say yes to the ones you want.
- Finish the job. Tap On my way and Start on the day, then tap Finish. Add up to 3 photos if there is something to show. The customer approves and your money is released.
How Flyer keeps jobs safe
- Every earner under 18 has a parent or guardian’s contact on file.
- Every job has to finish by 9 pm.
- Your street address stays hidden until the young person accepts.
- Jobs involving ladders, roofs, overnight work or power tools other than a lawn mower cannot be posted.
- The customer’s payment is held until they approve the finished job.
- A booking can be cancelled until the job starts (a 5% fee applies once the earner has accepted), and anyone who feels unsafe can leave at any time.
Flyer does not run criminal record checks, and it does not guarantee any job. Use the same judgement you would use hiring any neighbour’s kid. Read the safety rules in full.
