Summer jobs for teens
You do not need a boss to earn your own money this summer. Put up a flyer for what you are good at, set your own price and hours, and neighbours book you.
Jobs that are in demand in summer
Lawn mowing, dog walking, car washing, watering gardens, window cleaning and babysitting come up again and again. Tutoring younger kids is popular in the weeks before and after school.
Pick the one or two you would be happiest doing, and put up a flyer for each.
How it works
Put up a flyer with your price, your hours and photos if you have them. A neighbour sends you a request, you accept the ones that suit you, and the money is held until they approve the finished job.
You must be 13 or older. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian is on file and your earnings are paid into an account that belongs to them.
Making it go well
A clear photo and a short, friendly description help people choose you. Reviews build up with every job, and your first few good ones make the next bookings easy.
Every job has to finish by 9 pm, and some kinds of work are limited by age so that summer jobs stay safe.
Getting started
- Create an account. Sign up with your email and confirm it.
- Add your details. Your date of birth, and if you are under 18, a parent or guardian’s name, phone number and email.
- Put up a flyer. Say what you do, set your price and choose your hours.
- Accept what suits you. Requests come from neighbours for a specific day and time. Say yes to the ones you want.
- Finish the job. Tap On my way and Start on the day, then tap Finish. Add up to 3 photos if there is something to show. The customer approves and your money is released.
How Flyer keeps jobs safe
- Every earner under 18 has a parent or guardian’s contact on file.
- Every job has to finish by 9 pm.
- Your street address stays hidden until the young person accepts.
- Jobs involving ladders, roofs, overnight work or power tools other than a lawn mower cannot be posted.
- The customer’s payment is held until they approve the finished job.
- A booking can be cancelled until the job starts (a 5% fee applies once the earner has accepted), and anyone who feels unsafe can leave at any time.
Flyer does not run criminal record checks, and it does not guarantee any job. Use the same judgement you would use hiring any neighbour’s kid. Read the safety rules in full.
Questions
What is the best summer job for a 14 year old?
The best one is something you enjoy and can do reliably. Dog walking, lawn mowing and car washing are easy to start with, and you set your own price.
How much can a teenager earn on Flyer?
You set your own price and keep it in full. How much you earn depends on your price, your hours and how many people book you.
Do I need my parents' permission?
If you are under 18, a parent or guardian's contact is required when you sign up and they confirm their email before payouts start.
Is it free to join?
Yes. Joining and putting up a flyer are free. The service fee is paid by the person hiring, on top of your price.
